Tulsa's India Association embraced its own today. The group raised $2,200 to help 53 Indian men who once worked for Tulsa's John Pickle Company. Other charitable groups have already donated hundreds more.
The Indian nationals walked off of the job last month. They say they were treated as virtual slaves and were paid less than minimum wage.
The India Association is also working with the nationals, so they can find other jobs in Tulsa.
Hari Musapta, President India Association: "Resumes for all the workers so they can fill them out and give them back to me - at the same time our friends are looking for workers permits. By the time they workers permits comes we will have worker spread and they can go to the job and be independent."
The former employees are suing the John Pickle company. The Pickle company has denied any wrongdoing.
