The state says it doesn't care if a private company hired to clear snow cancels its contract. VMS was hired to a five year deal to keep the roads clear in Tusla and Oklahoma Counties.

The company has come under criticism for not doing its job properly during the latest snow storm. VMS isn't happy that the state is withholding nearly a million dollars in back payments - so it wants out of the deal. State Transportation Managers say, "that's O.K."

Gary Ridley/ODOT: "We have an obligation to the people of Oklahoma...both in central and in the Northeast to provide a level of service they expect and demand from us...quite frankly, that wasn't being met."

Officials say VMS will no longer work for the state by the end of April.
