Republicans chose Chad Stites to face Democrat Roy McClain to fill the state House District 71 seat vacated by John Sullivan. Sullivan resigned after being elected to fill the congressional term of Steve Largent, who retired to run for governor.
Stites, a real estate appraiser and investor, received 1,171 votes. Misti Rice was next with 914, followed by Ed Kligora with 620, Robert Pinney with 358, Fred J. Cotton with 225 and Evelyn L. Rogers with 92.
