(HOUSTON) - Kevin Johnson scored 21 points to lead Tulsa to a 67-62 victory over Rice Thursday night.
Tulsa (24-5, 15-3 WAC) trailed Rice 34-30 at the half but outshot the Owls (10-18, 5-13) in the second half to pull away for the victory.
Tulsa shot 52 percent from the field, hitting 11 of 21 shots, while Rice shot 38 percent (11 of 29). The Golden Hurricane capitalized at the free-throw line in the second half, hitting 12 of 14. Rice went to the line for only three shots and made two of those.
Dante Swanson added 16 points and Greg Harrington had 10 for Tulsa.
Antonio Reed had six assists and Harrington had five for Tulsa.
Omar-Seli Mance led Rice with 19 points. Shawn Tyndell added 12 and Jason McKrieth had 11.
