Inmate Death Ruled Homicide

(McALESTER, Okla.) - The death of an Oklahoma State Penitentiary inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell has been ruled a homicide, the state medical examiner's office says.

Bobby Anthony Holloway, 37, was pronounced dead at 7:49 p.m. Monday, warden's assistant Lee Mann said. Holloway had been found on the floor of his cell about 40 minutes earlier.

"They did CPR on him but weren't able to save him,'' Mann said.

The medical examiner's office in Tulsa said Holloway had been asphyxiated.

Holloway was serving 51 years for four separate offenses, including a 25-year term for robbery with a firearm.

His cellmate, 22-year-old Charles A. Bradford, has been moved to the prison's disciplinary unit pending completion of an internal investigation.

Institutional charges of battery have been filed against Bradford, Mann said. She said a report is to be filed with the Pittsburg County district attorney when the prison's investigation is completed.
