Ellis Jones, a Tulsa All-America lineman despite having just one arm, has died.
Jones was 80. He died Sunday in Sterling, Colorado, from complications of an injury earlier this month.
Jones' right arm was amputated eight inches below the shoulder after an accident when he was eleven.
Still, Jones was Tulsa's starting left guard from 1942 to 1944 and played on teams that went to the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl.
Jones' number was retired by the university and inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983.
He was drafted in 1945 by the N-F-L's Boston Yanks, which later became the Baltimore Colts. He played one year with the team.
He started his own oil-related business in 1957.
