Tulsa County traffic court moved to Bishop Kelly High School Wednesday.
The Crash Court program lets teenagers see what it's like for drunk driving suspects to go before a judge, admit guilt and get sentenced. Judge Kyle Haskins held court for the sophomores at Bishop Kelley Wednesday. They saw three people learn their fates, two had to pay thousands in fines and do dozens of hours of community service. One defendant had to jail time.
The judge talks to the students about the real life consequences of choosing to drive drunk. "I hope when you saw that young man handcuffed, you realized those are the kinds of bad decisions you want to avoid in the future."
The crash court program is now available in public and private schools in 24 states.
