Claremore's Expo Center is a sign of a booming town. The Green Country town was the fastest growing city in Oklahoma in the 1990’s. News on 6 reporter Steve Berg explains why.
Will Rogers said he never met a man he didn't like. People also seem to like his hometown area just fine. Rogers County was also the fastest growing County in the state in the past decade. The Expo center is a reflection of that. Officials say the 20-million dollar facility is twice as big as you would normally find in a town the size of Claremore.
Although it's a town that's quickly getting bigger. This weekend’s fishing show is expected to lure about 15,000 visitors to town. Expo leaders say the building has gotten a lot of use during its first two years. Dell Davis, Claremore Expo Marketing Manager: "Being we're still the new kids on the block, we have done very well, I think we had 168 event days last year, which is great, considering we've only been open a little over two years now."
