Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating's efforts to keep Phillips Petroleum's headquarters in Bartlesville may be changing directions.
Keating was in Houston Tuesday to meet with Conoco officials. The governor asked Conoco to move some of its operations back to Oklahoma, instead of trying to convince Phillips to stay in the state.
Phillips and Conoco have announced plans to merge and say the company's headquarters will be in Houston. Conoco has about 1,900 employees in the Ponca City area. Phillips employs about 2,400 in Bartlesville.
