A man convicted and sentenced to die for killing his stepdaughter is asking for a new trial.

Attorneys for Oscar Patterson say a witness who testified against him in court has confessed to the murder. 16-year-old Tiffiany Beverly of Broken Arrow disappeared from Woodland Hills Mall back in 1997. Her bones were found over a year later in a field.

Patterson was arrested and convicted in her death. He now says Paul Monroe Bryan admitted to another person that he killed Tiffiany.

Bryan was never charged in the case and prosecutors say he denies any role in Tiffiany's death.
