A Tulsa hospital is on the rise, literally. SouthCrest Hospital opened its fifth floor this week, which houses a 32-bed medical unit.
That portion of the building had been just a shell to be used for future growth. But it didn't take long for it to be put to use. SouthCrest President and CEO Tony Young, "We opened up four new OR's about two months ago, and so that basically doubled the size of our operating room capacity, which was really needed, and that's increasing our bed need at the present time, so that's why we're opening up this new medical floor on five, which will give us more room on three for some more surgical patients."
And that growth continues. Steel beams are up for a sixth level. That cardiovascular floor will bring another 32 beds to the hospital and is expected to open this summer.
