STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Payne County prosecutors plan to try a Glencoe teen-ager as an adult in the shooting death of her mother last year.
Angela Sharie Nguyen, 17, is charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 22 killing of her mother, Lucille Nguyen.
District Attorney Rob Hudson announced he would try the teen as an adult after her attorney requested a new preliminary hearing.
Angela Nguyen is scheduled to appear in district court in March for another preliminary hearing based on new evidence. Her attorney, Royce Hobbs, told District Judge Donald Worthington the teen's boyfriend was lying when he testified earlier that Angela Nguyen shot her mother.
Angela Nguyen's former boyfriend, Nathan Frazier, 18, and Ramone Miranda, 20, also were charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Nguyen has been in the Payne County Jail awaiting trial for nearly a year.
