(STILLWATER) - A fight that involved University of Texas basketball players and Oklahoma State University fans near the end of Saturday's game in Stillwater is under review by OSU and Big 12 Conference officials.

The fight broke out with 18 seconds to play when two Texas players dove for a loose ball and knocked a pregnant woman to the floor. The woman's husband then grabbed one of the players and several Longhorns players, including some who were on the bench, ran to join the altercation.

"First and foremost, it is our understanding that the woman that was involved in the initial, inadvertent contact is okay and so is her unborn child,'' said OSU athletic director Terry Don Phillips.

The woman was taken to a Stillwater hospital where she was treated and released.

Procedures to ensure the safety of fans, players and coaches are in place, Phillips said, but officials will review those procedures and make changes if necessary.

Phillips also had praise for several OSU students in the area of the fight and for Texas coach Rick Barnes after watching a video tape of the incident.

"I was pleased to see a number of our students respond to try to secure the area,'' Phillips said.

"I also applaud and appreciate coach Barnes' prompt response to the incident.''

Phillips said he has also written a letter of apology to the athletic director at Texas.

Conference officials are also reviewing video tape of the incident.

Big 12 commissioner Kevin Weiberg says no action, if any, is expected until later this week.

Weiberg says no Texas players will be suspended for leaving the team bench because the fight wasn't between players.
