(Charleston-AP) -- Jennifer Capriati will defend her Family Circle Cup title in Charleston this April.

Capriati took her first Family Circle Cup title a year ago by defeating Martina Hingis. Capriati also won her first two Grand Slam events last year, winning the Australian and French opens.

She also reached the semifinals at Wimbledon and the U-S Open.

Capriati reached the finals of the Family Circle Cup in 1990 as a 14-year-old.

The Family Circle Cup is set at The Tennis Centre at Daniel Island from April 15th through the 21st.

Capriati's win last year made her the first American-born player to win the tournament since Chris Evert won the last of her eight tournament titles in 1995.
