NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma safety Roy Williams has been named one of four finalists for the Walter Camp Football Foundation player of the year award.
Williams is the only defensive player among the finalists. Others in the running are quarterbacks Ken Dorsey of Miami, Eric Crouch of Nebraska and Rex Grossman of Florida.
The award is named for the former Yale coach who helped develop the rules of the game. The winner is chosen by a national panel of Division I-A coaches and sports information directors.
Oklahoma quarterback Josh Heupel won the award last year.
Another Oklahoma player, Jeff Ferguson, is among three finalists for the Ray Guy Award, which recognizes the nation's top punter. The other finalists are Freddie Capshaw of Miami and Travis Dorsch of Purdue.
The winners of the Camp and Guy awards will be announced Dec. 6.
