TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Dante Swanson scored 19 points to lead six Tulsa players in double figures as the Golden Hurricane rolled over Grambling State 104-61 Monday night.

Swanson, who shot 5-8 from the 3-point line, also had eight rebounds and seven assists.

Kevin Johnson had 17 points for Tulsa (1-0), while Charlie Davis had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Grambling (1-1) erased an early deficit to take its only lead in the game at 27-26 on a jumper by William McDonald with 4:20 left in the first half.

Swanson responded by making two 3-pointers in a 16-0 run that put Tulsa up 42-27 at halftime. Tulsa built its largest lead at 99-55 late in the game.

Paul Haynes led Grambling with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Ron Ellis had 13 points and William McDonald 12.

Grambling made was 7-of-14 (50 percent) from the 3-point line but shot just 40 percent overall. Tulsa outrebounded Grambling 49-32 and forced them into 18 turnovers.

The game was John Phillips' debut as Tulsa head coach. Phillips was an assistant at Tulsa under both Bill Self and Buzz Peterson, now at Illinois and Tennessee, respectively.
