Pawnee County has a new Sheriff. County Commissioners appointed undersheriff Don Sweger to take over.

Sweger will fill the position of Dwight Woodrell, who was shot to death last month. Woodrell was investigating suspicious activity near Cleveland when he was gunned down. No one has been arrested.

Sweger will serve for the next year. He can run for the remaining two years on Woodrell's term in a special election next fall.
