OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The cost of gasoline in Oklahoma continues to decline, AAA Oklahoma officials say.

According to a Fuel Gauge Survey, self-serve regular unleaded gas is selling for an average $1.11 statewide, 8.5 cents a gallon less than on Oct. 15.

The $1.11 average is also nearly 50 cents lower than the $1.60 recorded on Sept. 14, three days after the terrorist attacks on the East Coast.

Oklahoma has the third-lowest state gas price average in the nation, AAA Oklahoma officials reported. The lowest is in Indiana, $1.102, followed by $1.107 in Georgia.

Nationwide, the average price per gallon of regular unleaded gas is $1.257, nearly 30 cents lower than the $1.553 found on Sept. 14.

Growing inventories of gas and crude oil have spurred the slide in gas prices, officials said.
