The Creek County Sheriff has beaten the deadline to reduce the number of inmates in his jail.

Earlier this week, a state fire marshal threatened to close the jail if the inmate population wasn't reduced to 121 by Friday. Officials say the number of inmates Thursday morning was 109.

This week, 15 inmates were sent to state prisons and others were released on lower bonds.
