(Denver-AP) -- Denver Broncos running back Terrell Davis says he's recovered enough to play against the Los Angeles Raiders Monday night. But a report published Tuesday says Davis was so concerned about a sore leg just eight days ago that he was considering retiring.
The Denver Post is reporting Tuesday that Davis went to coach Mike Shanahan earlier this month and said he might have to give up football because of pain in his lower left leg. The pain reminded him of the stress fracture that kept him out of the game last season.
Shanahan told Davis to get an MRI before making any big decisions. The MRI came back negative and Davis decided not to retire.
Shanahan says he won't decide until at least Wednesday whether Davis will play Monday night.
