There's a nationwide push to carry the American flag across the country, following the route never completed by two of the highjacked planes.
An Oklahoman is gearing up to join in the patriotic run for freedom in the face of terrorism. Eddie Beesley knows well the cost of freedom; he lost both legs serving in Vietnam. His patriotism and pride in America runs deep, so much so, that he wanted to help in the effort to get Old Glory from coast to coast.
He’ll be carrying the American flag on his wheelchair along a stretch of Oklahoma road. He says he won't cry, because Marines never do. "Being a Marine we don't cry, but sometimes our eyes sweat. You know and that's what it will be." Eddie thinks he'll get his turn to carry the stars and stripes Monday.
The flag is scheduled to arrive in Oklahoma Sunday.
