An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper is recovering this morning in a Tulsa hospital after breaking both of his legs.

Trooper Jack Choate was searching for a stolen car around a quarry near Catoosa when the ground gave way.

Choate fell 60-to-80 feet into the quarry.

A second trooper found him about 30-minutes later.

Choate is in good condition.
