A Tulsa-based business related to the airline industry is making cutbacks. This comes after layoffs by several major airlines. The Nordam Group here in Tulsa plans to layoff 170 employees.
Nordam does aircraft research, development and manufacturing. The company has 2,900 employees nationwide, 2,600 of those are right here in Tulsa. The layoffs represent about 6% of the firm's workforce.
Another Tulsa firm, may soon be doing the opposite, hiring workers. Southwest Porcelain in Sand Springs has been approved for the Oklahoma quality jobs program.
The company's president says they will be hiring more than a hundred people in the next few years.
Southwest Porcelain manufactures porcelain products including signs, tables and grills.
