WASHINGTON (AP) _ Maytag Corp. is recalling about 50,000 Amana Big Oven gas ranges because they can emit potentially dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

The ranges emit high levels of the gas during the broil and self-clean modes. In those modes, the storage drawer also becomes extremely hot, which could burn consumers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

Maytag, based in Newton, Iowa, has received no reports of injuries. The company is offering to repair the ranges for free.

The recalled 30-inch self-clean gas ranges have the following model and serial numbers:

_Model ACF3315A (T) (K); Serial numbers beginning: 0005 through 0103.

_Model ACF3335A (W) (C) (B) (S); Serial numbers beginning: 0005 though 0107.

_Model ACF3375A (W) (C) (B) (S); Serial numbers beginning: 0006 through 0107.

The model and serial numbers are on a tag inside the storage drawer. The brand name ``Amana'' appears on the front of the gas range.

Maytag bought Amana Appliances in July.

Stores nationwide sold these gas ranges from May 2000 through July 2001 for between $600 and $850.

The safety commission advises consumers to stop using the self-clean or broil functions. The ranges are safe for baking and for cooking on the surface burners.
