Tulsa's mentally ill indigent patients have a new place to go for help. Friday morning, the temporary crisis center for the mentally ill was moved from the Day Center to Doctors Hospital.

Last month, Parkside Hospital announced that it would no longer those patients, which meant diverting some of them to the Day Center for the Homeless. Vicki Downing, Community Services Director for the Department of Mental Health, “I wouldn't want anyone to assume that we moved here for any other reason except that the reality of the economy of skill in terms of using the department's resources, as well as a little better access for law enforcement when they're bringing our folks in.”

Doctors Hospital has agreed to let the state use it’s building until November 30th.
