COLLINVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ Police say a 40-year-old man has become the first victim of homicide in Collinsville in about 17 years.
Collinsville police responded to a call of a possible suicide Sunday, but instead found Jeffrey Scott Packett, 40, a victim of foul play.
Neighbors found Packett's body about 3:30 p.m. and called police. Authorities believe Packett, who was found with numerous gunshot wounds, was killed Friday or Saturday.
Officer Travis Linzy said Packett's home showed no sign of forced entry nor was anything missing.
So far there are no suspects, Linzy said, but police, along with agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, are tracking down several leads.
Linzy said Collinsville's last homicide was in 1984 when two people were killed at a mobile home park and one person was killed at a cafe. Both homicides were solved, he said.
