OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A police officer shot and killed a knife-wielding man who was threatening a woman and her three children, authorities said.

The names of those involved were not released, but police described the man as the woman's former husband.

She called police about 3 a.m. Sunday saying he had entered her home in southwest Oklahoma City and was threatening her and her children, all under age 10, with a knife.

An officer entered the home and repeatedly told the man to drop the knife, said police spokeswoman Sgt. Cris Cunningham. The man did not respond to the officer's order, she said.

A confrontation took place between the man and the officer, and the officer fired once, killing the man.
