Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are getting ready to crack down on drivers who speed through construction zones.

There's construction all over Tulsa, and roadwork can be dangerous for construction crews. That's why the Department of Transportation is asking for extra assistance from the Highway Patrol. Troopers be out in force making sure motorists obey work zone speed limits and pay attention to what they're doing behind the wheel. Trooper George Brown: "People go through these areas and they watch the construction then take their eyes off the roadway. We want to encourage people not to do that, simply get people to watch that 45-mile per hour speed limit and slow down."

Some advice from the OHP. Slow down, be patient, and remember, traffic fines double in construction zones.
