A Tulsa man who's in jail for a deadly shooting says it was a matter of self-defense.

Tulsa Police officers say 26-year old Kerrie Phillips shot Thaddeus Davis Junior. Davis was shot four times with a 9-millimeter handgun early Wednesday morning outside the old Mayo hotel in downtown Tulsa.

An eyewitness told police where to find Phillips. Police say he admitted the two argued over drugs and money, he says Davis tried to rob him, so Phillips shot him in self-defense.

Police found the murder weapon and turned the case over to the District Attorney.

This was the 22nd homicide of the year in Tulsa.
