(Pearland-AP) -- A Houston-area couple is suing a golf club that expelled them for alleged profane and disruptive behavior.
George and Mary Meade of Pearland are suing the Countryplace Golf Club for damages and restoration of their memberships.
Club officials say the Meades can't set foot on the club course that spreads below their back patio.
The Meades say they did nothing wrong, and George Meade has denied that he used profanity. He's a 67-year-old retired contract manager.
Golf pro Mike Hoelzer told the Meades of their expulsion in a June 2000 letter. No prior warning was delivered, and Hoelzer later said in a deposition that, in hindsight, he probably should have extended that courtesy.
The couple rejected a settlement offer in their Fort Bend County lawsuit that would have reinstated them to the golf club on a probationary status.
