(Norman-AP) -- The college football season is close at hand.

Proof of that comes today in Norman, where freshmen report to campus today. The newcomers will practice tomorrow and Wednesday.

The veteran Sooners report to campus Thursday.

Friday morning at 10:30, fans will be allowed onto the practice fields south of Memorial Stadium for autographs and pictures with the players.

The Sooners open the season, and defense of the national championship, August 25th at home against North Carolina.
