Some Green country students are back in the classroom Wednesday.
Year round classes began Wednesday at eleven Tulsa Public School sites, including Penn Elementary School in north Tulsa. Teachers say the students returned with excitement after a six week summer break.
This is Penn's third year with the continuous learning calendar. The principal says the school was eager to try the schedule for one important reason. Principal Phyllis Lovett, "To extend the learning time that our students have in school. A lot of our students in the summertime are very unproductive and we wanted to lessen the time that the students were out with nothing to do and spend more time in school."
The students will get another break in 9 weeks.
