(Tulsa-AP) -- An Arkansas man accused of vandalizing Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa is fighting extradition to Oklahoma.
Richard William Jones was arrested June 9th by Carroll County, Arkansas, authorities.
Jones was charged in September 1999 for vandalizing the golf course at Southern Hills, site of this year's U-S Open.
In June 1999, authorities say the former Southern Hills employees sprayed a substance that killed grass and left behind impressions of profanity and swastikas.
The governors of Oklahoma and Arkansas agreed Jones should be extradited to Oklahoma to face charges.
But when they arrived Wednesday to pick him up, Oklahoma authorities learned that Jones is seeking a hearing on his detention.
Jones' attorney said he was supposed to have a hearing within 30 days of his arrest, but didn't.
