Tulsa Police say a traffic accident early Monday is an unfortunate example of a growing problem in the city's Hispanic community.
Officers say a Hispanic woman failed to stop at a stop sign near Latimer and Harvard. A Jeep, driven by a Hispanic man, hit her car sending it through a fence. The car caught fire near a home, but didn't spread. Police say neither driver had a license or insurance, something they're seeing more often, particularly with Hispanics who may be in the country illegally. "They can't acquire a driver's license and consequently they are out here on the street without a driver's license, without a driver's license, they can't get insurance so we're battling that problem, it's a pretty significant problem right now. Unfortunately a lot of us have to pay the price who carry insurance on our vehicles."
The woman driving the car was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
