SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) _ One person suffered minor burns after a series of explosions and fire rocked a Sapulpa business, authorities said.
An estimated $400,000 in damages was done at Spradling Motors & Dismantlers Auto and Truck Salvage.
The blaze started when gas from a motorcycle engine spilled and caught fire, Tulsa Acting Assistant Chief Greg Neely said. The Tulsa Fire Department responded at the request of the Sapulpa Fire Department at 3:15 p.m., Neely said.
An employee with minor burns refused care from Creek County Ambulance Service at the scene. The person was taken to a Tulsa hospital by a friend, Neely said.
About 20 firefighters brought the fire under control by 3:45 p.m.
The office and automotive building was destroyed, but firefighters were able to save a second building, he said.
Two of Tulsa's Hazardous Materials Response units also responded because of the potential of more explosions with LPG gas, oxygen and acetylene tanks on site, Neely said.
Spradling's body shop will remain open, Neely said.
