(Tulsa-AP) -- The qualifying rounds of the U-S Open began Monday in Tulsa at the Southern Hills golf course.

Some 35-thousand tourists are expected in Tulsa this week. Tickets to the event have been sold out for months.

Tournament competition doesn't begin until Thursday.

Tiger Woods is considered the favorite. Woods is chasing his second straight U-S Open title and his second consecutive major championship of the season.
