(Tulsa-AP) - The body of a Tulsa woman is coming home after
spending more than a week on a Caribbean island.

Mel Root had been trying to recover the body of his wife
Carolyn. She drowned a week ago while diving in the Caribbean Sea.

Her body had remained on the island of Saint Barthelemy. The
island is under French authority, which requires an autopsy for
anyone who dies while not under the care of a doctor.

Root says he's been told there was only one doctor on the island
trained in autopsy, and he's owed money by the government.

But after calls from Senator Jim Inhofe's office, the U-S
Embassy in Barbados and the French Embassy in Washington, an
autopsy was performed Thursday.

Officials say Carolyn Root's body should be returned to Tulsa by
Friday.
