(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The success rate of an Oklahoma center that helps start up and lure high tech industries to the state mirrors that of a successful California program.

The Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology recently released a report that shows for every dollar the state contributes, the center gives back eight dollars in new salaries and taxes.

The California Technology Investment Program's return was eleven dollars for every state dollar.

Officials say the fact that Oklahoma's program is in line California is a good sign.

They say it means Oklahoma can compete in the ever-changing high tech market.
