Some Tulsans plan to fly this holiday season, but the winter weather has slowed things down a bit.
News on Six reporter Patrina Adger was at Tulsa International Airport Monday and says flights have been delayed because of the weather. That's why you must give yourself enough time to get here, so you can make your flight.
The snow came down hard and fast at Tulsa's International Airport. The airport closes the main runway for 30 minutes every hour while snowplows clear the grounds so planes can take off. Travelers could check monitors at the airport to keep track of the weather conditions nationwide.
The airport suggests you leave at least two hours before your scheduled take-off so you have enough time get through traffic, check-in and security. Diane Alden wanted to make sure she got to Idaho in time for Christmas, so she changed her flight from Tuesday to Monday. "Just because of the weather reports and the way it's sounding that it could get a little drastic overnight, I've decided to leave today while the getting out is good for sure."
Another reminder, if you have presents in your bags, they need to be unwrapped because security needs to check them.
