(Tulsa-AP) -- Steve Kragthorpe knows turning Tulsa into a winner won't be easy or fast.

But the Golden Hurricane's new football coach says the university is committed to improving a program that had only two wins the last two years.

Kragthorpe says it's going to take a lot of hard work to turn things around. He says part of the effort will involve recruiting and finding new players.

Kragthorpe has been the Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach the last two years. He was hired Wednesday to revive a Tulsa football program that hasn't had a winning season since going 10-and-2 in 1991.

He replaced Keith Burns, who resigned under pressure Decenber 2nd after going 7-and-28 in three seasons at Tulsa. Tulsa lost 17 consecutive games spanning the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
