(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The three-day filing period opened Monday for the state Senate seat vacated by Governor-elect Brad Henry.

The District 17 seat includes most of Pottawatomie County and sections of northeastern Cleveland County and southeastern Oklahoma County.

Henry resigned the seat on December 5th after winning the race for governor in November. He's to be sworn in as governor next month.

Governor Keating scheduled a primary election, if necessary, for January 14th. The election to fill the seat will be February 11th and the new senator could be sworn in by February 17th.
