(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma agriculture officials say a bountiful acorn crop this year doesn't necessarily mean a hard winter ahead.
Oklahoma State University Extension Center horticulturist Craig Evans says oak trees are simply in a production mode this year.
Evans says oak trees produce acorns in cycles, and combined with nutrition and a favorable environment this year, they're producing a bumper crop.
