(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Death penalty opponents in Oklahoma are focusing on stopping executions of those who commit capital crimes as juveniles.
Oklahoma City Representative Opio Toure is drafting legislation that would prevent executions of those who committed their crimes before turning 18.
Representatives of the Oklahoma Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty say juveniles aren't fully developed mentally and emotionally.
The group says juveniles should be treated differently in the criminal justice system.
They also say juveniles have a much greater chance of changing and contributing to society, whether in or out of prison.
