A Tulsa family is devastated after a police officer hit and killed 84-year-old Al Moyer late Sunday evening.

Al Moyer had worked at Moody's Jewelry for two decades and still worked there two days a week. He played golf the other days and was admired and loved by many people. Kevin Moody, victim's friend: "He was an employee for over 10 years. He was caring and compassionate and it just rubbed off on ya."

Moyer had left the company holiday party Sunday night around 10 PM at 65th and South Lewis. A witness said Moyer tried a couple of times to find a way between the construction barrels to turn into an apartment complex at 69th and Lewis, when he misjudged and his tires went over a 10-inch drop off.

They believe he was going for help, when officer Justin Farley hit him. Farley says he didn't see anything until his windshield shattered. Reports show the officer was going about 40 miles an hour and was not on any medication at the time.

Tulsa city workers were looking for ways Monday to make the construction zone safer.
