Hundreds have turned out for the debut of the Tulsa zoo's nine African black-footed penguins this weekend.
The long anticipated penguin exhibit opened Saturday with a parade led by Mayor Bill LaFortune.
Children wore blue penguin masks as they caught a glimpse of the penguins swimming in a 22-thousand gallon pool with gentle surf generated by a wave machine Saturday.
The penguins are native to the South African coast.
Tulsa zoo officials say they will now begin renovating the sea lion exhibit.
