(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Chad Alexander is resigning as chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party.

Alexander says he'll step down January 4th to explore other opportunities.

He didn't elaborate.

Alexander says his accomplishments include passage of a right-to-work law, victory in two special elections and enactment of a congressional redistricting plan that sent four Republicans to Congress.

He says Republicans are in good shape to capture both the state House and Senate in the next few years.
