It can be a silent killer during the winter. But a properly maintained furnace will eliminate the most common source of carbon monoxide.

The Tulsa Fire Department is getting more calls these days to check for carbon monoxide. Alan Barnes with the Tulsa Fire Department: "It creates nausea, lethargy, dizziness and as it gets higher those symptoms increase until you have convulsions and then unconsciousness."

The fire department tells us the newer monoxide detectors work well. They say it's especially important this time of year, when people use more gas - and have their houses closed up.
