A Tulsa attorney, seeking a preliminary injunction against an Arkansas poultry company, claims the company is dumping waste products after dark into Sequoyah County streams.
Chuck Shipley says OK Foods poultry processing plant in Muldrow is dumping after dark to avoid detection by officials.
Shipley represents a plaintiff in a class action suit against the processing plant and says an investigator for the law firm saw the company dumping at about midnight.
Officials with OK Foods declined to comment on the claims. Shipley says the plant has dumped poorly treated sewage, chicken fat and grease into nearby streams.
Homeowners downstream say they're affected by the waste. Muldrow city officials say OK Foods' waste has overwhelmed the local system at times, but the town is compliance with state laws and the company is working to comply.
