(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Members of the 49th Oklahoma Legislature were sworn in to their offices Tuesday.
Members of the state Senate recited their oaths on the Senate floor Tuesday morning. Members of the House of Representatives were sworn in shortly after noon.
The oaths were administered by Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Rudolph Hargrave.
A total of 24 of Oklahoma's 48 senators were elected or re-elected in the November 5th general election. The Senate includes eight new members -- five Republicans and three Democrats. Democrats hold a 28-to-20 majority in the Senate.
The 101 member House includes 17 new members -- 13 Democrats and 4 Republicans. Democrats hold a 53-to-48 majority in the House.
