TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A Tulsa police officer accused of fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs for her own use no longer has a job.
Police Chief Dave Been fired Michelle Norma Turner, a 10-year veteran who was assigned to the Uniform Division Southwest as a desk officer, Sgt. Wayne Allen said Monday.
Turner was fired for allegedly violating a state law that makes it illegal to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by ``fraud, deceit, misrepresentation, or subterfuge,'' Allen said.
She was also found to have broken departmental rules and regulations that require all employees to ``know, enforce, and obey laws and ordinances.''
``A citizen lodged a complaint with our Internal Affairs Office. The Internal Affairs investigators then launched an investigation,'' which was conducted in early September, he said.
The probe determined that Turner obtained by fraud hydrocodone, a controlled dangerous substance, on Sept. 4 and Sept. 6, officials alleged. Hydrocodone is a powerful painkiller.
Allen said the district attorney's office has declined criminal prosecution based on the evidence available.
